Windber Recreation Park Renovation Design Awarded to East Hills Engineering

March 12, 2021 – East Hills Engineering Associates & UpStreet Architects have been selected as the Architectural/Engineering design Team for the Windber Recreation Park Ballroom renovation. Plans are underway to completely update the current Ballroom to include a new commercial kitchen and updated lighting, plumbing and HVAC for year-round use. The Borough was awarded the $1 million funds through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program. Once renovations are completed, it will allow the Ballroom endless possibilities, making the unique venue the perfect facility to host a variety of special occasions, for instance, weddings and High School dances, any season of the year. Above all, we are honored that East Hills Engineering was chosen for the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Engineering design services for the Ballroom. In addition, we are very excited about being a part of this renovation that will not only impact the Windber Recreation Park, but also many other businesses within the Windber community.

Chris joined East Hills Engineering Associates in 2015 after graduating from Triangle Tech Greensburg with an Associates Degree in Mechanical Drafting and Design.

Rebecca brings business administration experience, marketing, creativity and an extensive customer relations background to the East Hills Team.

Mariah Ehrhart

Mariah graduated from Somerset County Technology Center in 2013, where she studied Pre-Engineering/Drafting and Design. At SCTC she was also the school wide SkillsUSA President and the Western Region SkillsUSA Conference Vice President.

Susan Muha

Susan has over 25 years of drafting experience and has a BA from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.

Kyle Koval, CHD

Kyle E. Koval is a 2010 graduate of Triangle Tech Institute, Greensburg, PA with an Associates of Applied Science in Architectural Computer Aided Drafting and Design.

George DeFrehn

In 1984, George DeFrehn and Gerald Kiniry founded East Hills Engineering Associates to provide Mechanical and Electrical Building System Design to Architects and Building Owners.

Chris Albright, PE, LEED AP

Christopher has a genuine interest in making things better and has engineered hundreds of HVAC systems since joining East Hills Engineering Associates in 2003.

Bryan Philips

Like many of Johnstown’s working-class Bryan began his working career in a local steel mill, where he eventually worked his way up to becoming a Turn Foreman at US Steel in the Johnstown Foundry Division before being laid off.

Barbara Hershberger

Brett Yonish, P.E., LEED AP

Brett graduated from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown with an Electrical Engineering Technology Degree, including a Math Minor and Physics Minor in 2006 and joined East Hills Engineering Associates days after graduation.
